There are blogging and content management systems, and then there is WordPress. WordPress is arguable the most popular blog and CMS. Plenty of bloggers in Columbus use WordPress, and so it's about time we have a WordCamp here. WordCamp is a conference type of event that focuses squarely on everything WordPress. Everyone from casual end users all the way up to core developers show up to these events. These events are usually highlighted by speeches or keynotes by various people.
The two guys, Alvin Borromeo and Rocky Van Brimmer, that got the ball rolling to bring Startup Weekend to Columbus are behind the effort to bring WordCamp to Columbus as well. But we can't do it alone. Also helping is Jason Blanton, and we are looking for more people to help us organize.
We will also need sponsors and a location. We've already got one forward thinking media company in Columbus interested in sponsorship. Also, we have one educational institution interested in hosting.
